Prof. Agnoletto gave 8-hour course on "THE WELFARE SYSTEM IN THE EUROPEAN UNION: HISTORY AND PERSPECTIVES " for Master's students as well as for 3, 4th and 5th-year underdraduate students. Prof. Agnoletto ave the presentation "EUROPEAN UNION SOCIAL MODEL" at the methodological seminar of the sector of Social Problems at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (April 21, 2006).

Visit of the teacher from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy) Prof. Carla Luhngi (April 10-13, 2006)

Prof. Lunghi gave 8-hour course on "New consumer behavior" for Master's students as well as for 3, 4th and 5th-year underdraduate students. Prof. Lunghi gave the presentation "New consumer behavior" at the methodological seminar of the sector of Social Problems at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (April 10, 2006).

Visit of teachers from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy) Prof. Rita Bichi and Prof. Silvana Poloni (April 3-6, 2006)

Prof. Poloni taught the 6-hour course "Indicators and scale building in social science research" for Master's students as well as for 3, 4th and 5th-year underdraduate students. Prof. Poloni taught the 6-hour course "Qualitative methodology: theories and methods" for for Master's students as well as for 3, 4th and 5th-year underdraduate students. Prof. Bichi and Prof. Poloni presented their research at the methodological seminar of the sector of Social Problems at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.




APRIL 3RD Master's students have successfully passed the State Examination in Economic Sociology.



Visit of the teacher from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy) ITALO PICCOLI. (March 26-30, 2006)

Prof, Piccoli taught the 6-hour course "Consumer behavior" for for Master's students as well as for 4th and 5th-year undergraduates(8 hours). Prof.Piccoli gave the presentation "Consumer behavior in a postmodern society"at the methodological seminar of the sector of Social Problems at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (29 March, 2006)

Monitoring of MESSENGER Project by TEMPUS representatives (March 22, 2006)

The Project «Master in Economic Sociology» supported by ECTS in Novosibirsk going towards Educational Reform«(T_JEP 24057 — 2003 MESSENGER)was monitored by Felix Rohn (Eorupean Commission), Gian Luca Bonduri (European Education Foundation), Olga Oleinikova (TEMPUS Russia National Office). Monitoring visit included meetings with MESSENGER administrative staff, Master's students and teachers. The main topics discussed within the monitoring working meetings are: project timeline, schedule of events and current "state-of-art"; the effectiveness of teachers' mobility; organisation of students' selection for mobility; Project perspectives. dissemination and sustainability of project results.

"Quality assurance and ECTS as issues of the Bologna process" (17 March, 2006)

Lecture in Novosibirsk State University given by Prof. Jean-Pierre Roose, head of the International Relations Department (Erasmushogeschool, Brussels (Belgium))

The lecture invoked a great interest among the representatives of university administration and academic departments, members of the university quality assessment group, NSU students and representatives of other Novosibirsk universities (Novosibirsk State Technical University, Siberian Railway Academy, and others), as well as attracted representatives of mass media.

The lecture was followed by extensive and interesting discussion. Many people came into CES office to receive the information about the details of Bologna process, which were prepared, brought and shared by prof. Roose within MESSENGER Project.

After the lecture, prof Roose was interviewed by the team of "EXPERT-Siberia" journal

Visit of the teacher from Vrije University Brussels (Belgium) Prof. Carlos Machado (16-19 March, 2006)

Prof. Machado offered the 8-hour course "Quantitative analysis of Qualitative research data" for Master's students as well as for 3rd, 4th and 5th-year undergraduates. Within the course, prof. Machado familiarized the students with the version of NVIVO Software (program for analyzing textual data)

Visit of the teachers from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy) Prof. Silvia Cortellazzi and Prof. Ivanna Pais (12 - 16 March, 2006)

Prof. Silvia Cortellazzi taught the 6-hour course "Problems of Labor and Organization of Society in Historical Perspective" for for Master's students as well as for 4th and 5th-year undergraduates. Prof. Ivanna Pais taught 8-hour course "Sociology of labor and informational society" for the same audience.

Prof. Cortelazzi and Prof. Pais presented the report "The notion of profession and its applicability in modern societies" at the methodological seminar of the sector of Social Problems at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (15 March, 2006).

  • Lecture "The Bologna Process and Introduction of European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and Diploma Supplement (DS)" given by Dorina Angelescu.

The representatives of the university administration and of all the faculties of NSU, officials of the educational and methodological center, students of the Institute for Improvement of Professional Skills of NSU, officials and researchers of the Sociology Department at the Faculty of Economics (NSU) were present at the lecture with the total number of more than 40. The lecture itself together with the discussion and comments lasted for about 2 hours.

Aim of the meeting: taking into account the current situation to define the main parameters of the Master program in Economic Sociology: preparing for the general meeting of NSU professors participants of the MESSENGER project.

Discussed topics:

  • Coordination of two periods - one needed for realization of MA program proposed in the project MESSENGER, and the period, stated for MA in the educational standard of Russian Federation.
  • Corrected list of MA program courses, credits allocation, and staff allocation.
  • Short-term activity: parameters of entry competition, PR promotion of MA program; preliminary mobility plan of RF professors to EU.
